Over 30 heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals participated in a ducted heat pump workforce training in Glenwood Springs on May 7th. This training provided valuable instruction on the installation of heat pumps into existing homes with central air systems. 

Thanks to gains in efficiency in the past decade, cold-climate heat pumps are capable of heating a home in temperatures below -10 degrees fahrenheit, while providing cooling in summer as an added benefit. Many residents are interested in installing heat pumps in both new and existing homes, leading to a growing demand for a skilled workforce to install and maintain them.

The training was hosted by the Garfield Clean Energy and Clean Energy Economy for the Region (CLEER) team with sponsorship from CD Jones, Holy Cross Energy, Xcel Energy, Walking Mountains Science Center, City of Glenwood Springs, Town of Carbondale, Community Office for Resource Efficiency and Energy Smart Colorado.
