Earth Day: looking back and forward, and how you can help

Earth Day provides an opportunity to look back on our accomplishments of the past year, and to set intentions for the next.

It’s been a busy year for Garfield Clean Energy – helping low- and moderate-income households lower their utility bills, making major commercial building projects more efficient, helping local municipalities update their building energy codes, spearheading the development of a county EV readiness plan and more.

And we’ve got a long to-do list for 2024, guided by the 2023 Energy Action Plan for Garfield County. The plan sets five overarching goals to achieve by 2030, and that means we’ll have to make – and measure – significant annual progress on each of them. We invite you to be part of this work, and our staff are here to help! Read more...

eBikeThere: get a new e-bike for $150

Our eBikeThere Garfield County program is back for 2024, offering 50 new e-bikes to income-qualified residents at the highly discounted price of $150. Yes, $150! The application deadline is May 3 – see our website for details.

The purpose of eBikeThere is to reduce vehicle travel and pollution by making e-bikes more affordable to county residents. E-bikes also have health benefits, and compared to cars they're less dangerous to pedestrians and others sharing the road.

Don't meet the income requirements for eBikeThere? You can still get a $450 point-of-sale rebate on an e-bike purchase at Basalt Bike & Ski in Carbondale.
