No heat, no cooling, no problem – thanks to ReEnergize

Kitty Riley’s furnace started to fail last October – the worst time of year to try to get on an HVAC installer’s schedule. Little did she know that it would take until January to get the heat back on in her home.

This story has a happy ending, although it took three months to get there. Kitty is now the proud owner of a shiny new heat pump that’s not only keeping her house toasty warm in winter, but will also provide blessed cooling come summer. Holy Cross Energy’s rate restructuring: the shape of things to come

Holy Cross Energy’s recent announcement that it’s restructuring its rates is a big deal – and not only for Holy Cross customers. It’s a leading indicator of major changes that are underway as utilities adjust their business models for the transition to a clean-energy future.

Wind and solar power are providing a growing share of the energy mix, and these renewable sources are cheaper but also more intermittent. EV charging: the next generation

Carbondale’s Third Street Center was an early adopter of EV charging technology – so early that it’s now on its second generation of charging stations. The nonprofit center recently replaced four old chargers with new ones that offer greater reliability and plenty of upgraded features. It’s a project that’s close to our hearts, because CLEER (the organization that runs GCE’s programs) has its offices in the Third Street Center.

CLEER transportation program manager Martín Bonzi (pictured) was instrumental in helping the center get funding for the upgrade. If your workplace, housing complex or shopping center is thinking of adding EV charging, talk to Martín!
